The Shibori label began in 2004 and is the work of Sydney based textile artist and designer Pepa Martin.

Shibori is the art of decorating cloth using resistance and colour. Inspired by the simplicity of nature - wet leaves,
aged wood or corroding metals - Pepa uses techniques or folding, clamping, pleating or binding to reproduce the
beauty seen in everyday life. Each piece of silk is unique and would be a challenge to recreate. Often opening a piece
of cloth that has been bound and dyed can give results that are far from expected introducing an element of the
unknown. Sometimes resistance gives way and colours bleed into each other making something more beautiful than
intention could create.
